The 2013 version of Mean Green football will have some excitement as this will be the first year of the Mean Green playing in Conference USA. There will be some familiar foes, and some new teams for the Mean green to play, some for the very first time. But with a new Conference will come new challenges and new areas to expose fans to Mean Green Football.
Here is a look at the Mean Green’s 2013 schedule, full dates and times have not been announced;

North Texas is going into the west division with Louisiana Tech, Rice, Tulane, Tulsa, UT-El Paso, and UT- San Antonio. This will help, and allow fans to travel to road games easier since all of the schools in their division are more regional and the furthest travel would be to El Paso. The move to Conference USA is a small step up for North Texas and it will allow them to play tougher opponents than they did in the Sun Belt.
If North Texas can be competitive the first year or two in Conference USA, then they will start attracting better recruits and could start to see a steady climb into better opportunities, much like TCU who went from a WAC school to a Big XII school. I am not saying North Texas will reach Big XII status, but even moving up to a better conference from here is only going to improve the schools stature.
