According to reports this morning, TCU has accepted a full invitation to join the Big East Conference. This will take place in the 2012 – 2013 season. This is a solid move for the TCU program in the fact they will at least be able to get a BCS bowl if they are able to win the conference. But with this move, there will be some challenges, mostly of which will add some tougher opponents to their schedule in the coming years. I know, the Big East has been a joke this season, but there has been improvement with some of the teams. Which leads me to believe that there will be a chance, by the time TCU arrives, it could be a tougher conference.
Originally this was supposed to a football only invitation, but TCU had been reluctant to make that kind of move. So, in the end, it looks like the allure of TCU and their needing to make a full move won out over the Big East’s intentions to try and stay as is in other sports. While this is good for all of TCU’s programs, everyone knows this will be primarily a football move. While I am sure there will be more to this story over the next couple hours, days and weeks, this is a positive move for TCU. Hopefully their new conference brothers will open them with open arms.
