Longhorns Stun Sooners in Red River Upset

*** This is an emergency bulletin from the Norman Oklahoma national weather service; There is a flash flood warning for the next 365 days as there will be tons of Sooner tears falling into the river after today’s stunning upset***

Stun OUIf you still haven’t heard the news today, then you must have been living under a rock… Because there was an Oklahoma breakdown today in historic Cotton Bowl stadium courtesy of the Texas Longhorns. It was a win for the ages for the Longhorns, who have not been playing good this season.

From the opening kickoff, you just had a sense the Longhorns were fired up and wanted to prove all the “naysayers” wrong. There have been a lot of questions and concerns from the 40 Acres after the TCU blowout. But while everyone across the country, even most Texas faithful, had Oklahoma picked to win, the team on the field believed they could beat the 10th ranked Sooners. Continue reading

Strong Era Begins with with a Win

The Texas Longhorns started the new “Strong Era” with a seemingly impressive win over North Texas on Saturday night. While fans seemed optimistic about the win, and the thoughts of the season going forward, I would tap the breaks on any thoughts this team will blow the doors off the Big 12.

Early Look at Texas Longhorns 2014 Schedule

Texas LonghornsThe Texas Longhorns are going into 2014 with some big changes and a new coaching staff. But one thing remains consistent on the 40 Acres, there will be big expectations and a demand to win often and early from the fan base. While the Longhorns said goodbye to Mack Brown at the end of last season, it was a change which needed to be made and there is still the expectation to win because the team had not fallen into the gutter. Texas-Texas A&M; A Lone Star Shootout missed

Lone Star ShootoutFor anyone who grew up in the state of Texas, there was always one game for even the most casual observer that they looked forward to every season. That would have been the Texas Longhorns and Texas A&M game which was dubbed the “Lone Star Shootout” and in a lot of years, there was always something big on the line, besides bragging rights. That could have been a conference title; national title hopes or even a shot at a bowl game. It never really mattered which team was favored, or which team looked to be the best, because both teams would pour their heart and soul into the game and in most cases it was always entertaining. But because the Aggies perceived the Longhorns to be “uppity” and greedy with the new Longhorn Network, they essentially “took their ball, and went home”.

Early Look at North Texas Mean Green 2014 Schedule

North Texas Mean Green released their 2014 schedule recently and as I was looking at it, it struck me that the Mean Green has some interesting games on the horizon. They look to have a tougher road schedule than home, and entering their second season in Conference USA, they could be a dark horse candidate to win their division.
