Is it time to Panic for the Cowboys?

Weeden CowboysWhen this season started, there was a lot of hope, a lot of expectations and even some boasting about having the best team top to bottom since the great teams of the 90’s. But the NFL is a fickle beast and can snatch anything good away from you in an instant.

The season began with a lot of promise, and boasting by the fan base as the Cowboys won a thriller on opening night, then proceeded to dismantle Philadelphia in week two. But if there is something to be said about the first two weeks, the Cowboys roster began to look more like a MASH unit, then a football team. Continue reading

Cowboys control Destiny; eyeing playoffs

Cowboys DestinyThe Dallas Cowboys are facing a tough test on Sunday against the Colts on Sunday, but they have the biggest carrot of recent history in front of them. If they continue to win, and can stay ahead of the Philadelphia Eagles, they will win the NFC East and end a playoff drought. The Colts have already earned a playoff spot, and will most likely rest key guys to prevent injuries. This sets up well for the Cowboys since they are still playing for their post season lives. Upcoming games could be big for Cowboys

The Cowboys are facing a tough stretch in their upcoming schedule with three games in 12 days. Two of those three games are going to be on the road, and it will be a tough road especially, because while the Cowboys seem healthy, Romo’s back could be in danger with these upcoming games.

Stephen Jones for GM; Why not?

The Dallas Cowboys have been stuck in mediocrity since their last Super Bowl in 1996, and no matter who you want to blame or try to point the finger at, there is always one constant in the equation. Jerry Jones is the ever present constant in the mediocrity of the Cowboys, he is a very prideful man who took over the team and became Owner and General Manager. In the beginning he made it work because he had a lot of “Football” people who ran the day to day operations while he was out “wooing” clients like Pepsi and Nike to sponsor the Cowboys. But since all of those “Football” people have left the franchise, this has become nothing more than his toy. Continue reading

December Doldrums for the Cowboys

Back a few weeks ago I wrote a piece about the Cowboys turning a corner. At that time, they were finishing up the November part of their schedule and they were looking at playing the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers with backup quarterbacks, plus finishing up their season with a weak Washington squad and a semi-hot Eagles team. But I was worried the December curse would once again fall upon the Cowboys and doom any chance at breaking out of mediocrity. Continue reading
