The Rangers limped out of Tampa Bay losing two of three, and made their way to Boston for a three game series at historic Fenway park. The series between these two teams has been pretty even over the last couple years, and Fenway is now less of a house of horrors for the Rangers. If the Rangers can find a way to get two wins here, they will head back home with an even road trip.
4/7-Lackey vs. Scheppers: Red Sox 5 – Rangers 1 – Tanner Scheppers wanted to prove the struggles he had during opening day were a fluke. He wanted to prove to the team and fans he was ready to be a full-time starter. He pitched a solid five innings, giving up two runs on nine hits. Not a great outing, but good enough to keep Boston from putting more than two runs on the board. Unfortunately for Scheppers, and the Rangers, Lackey was able to keep the bats quiet only giving up one run through seven.
- Choo 2-4
- Rios 2-3
4/8-Dubront vs. Martinez: Rangers 10 – Red Sox 7 – The Rangers bats finally woke up and provided some pop in support of Martin Perez. It was an overall team effort with 6 different players driving in runs for the Rangers. Meanwhile Perez pitched 6 and one-third innings allowing four runs on eight hits. Texas was also able to get 5 double plays which is just shy of the MLB record 7 held by San Francisco.
- Chirinos 2-4, 2 RBI, HR
- Beltre 2-3, 2 RBI
4/9-Peavy vs. Ross:Red Sox 4 – Rangers 2 – Robbie Ross made his second start of the season and pitched well enough to not lose the game. He went 5 and 1/3 innings, giving up one run on two hits, but walked six. While Ross pitched good, the Rangers took a 2-1 lead going into the bottom of the eighth and it looked like the bullpen would hold on to this lead. Unfortunately David Ortiz came up and hit one over the foul pole and gave the Red Sox the lead. The Rangers will now regroup and start a home stand on Friday.
