The Rangers just finished off a weekend series where they took two out of three from the Houston Astros, and they will now take on the second place Seattle Mariners. This four game series will be a good chance to gain some ground on the leaders in the division and tighten up the race in the West.
4/14 – Elias vs. Lewis: Mariners 7 – Rangers 1 – Colby Lewis made his return to the mound after an almost two-year hiatus and he gave the Rangers 5 1/3 innings pitched and only gave up one run. Unfortunately for the Rangers, the bullpen came in and collapsed and allowed the Mariners to put up six additional runs, which buried the Rangers and started the series off on the wrong foot.
- Kouzmanoff 1-4, 1 RBI
4/15 – Bevan vs. Ross: Rangers 5 – Mariners 0 – The Rangers were able to get a solid outing from Robbie Ross and they were able to pitch the shut out against the Mariners. But the big story of the night is Prince Fielder hit his first home run of the year and finally seems to be getting out of the slump which he started the season in.
- Fielder 1-3, HR, 1 RBI
- Kouzmanoff 3-4,HR, 3 RBI
- Ross 7.2 IP, 5H, 2K
4/16 – Hernandez vs. Darvish: Rangers 3 – Mariners 2 – Another big walk off win for the Rangers after spending most of the game down two runs. But more late inning heroics kept this game from showing under the Loss column. unfortunately the Rangers were able to muster up any run support for Yu Darvish.
- Martin 2-4, 1 RBI
4/17 – Ramirez vs. Scheppers: Rangers 8 – Mariners 6 – Get away day game for the final game of the series and once again Tanner Scheppers shows he is struggling being a starting pitcher. Rangers jumped out to a big lead, but the bottom fell out and let the Mariners back in the game. Fortunately the bullpen was able to save the day and two additional runs ended up being the difference. The Rangers won their third game in a row
- Choo 2-5, Hr, 1 RBI
- Moreland 2-3, 3 RBI
Three game series with the Chicago White Sox at home.
