Series Recap – Houston Astros

Rangers The Rangers limped home from their road trip looking to return to their winning ways against divisional opponent Houston. While the Rangers are still waiting for some players to return healthy, they needed this series to be a winning one to be able to stay out of a hole that could be insurmountable.

4/11 – Feldman vs. Darvish: Rangers 1 – Astors 0 – The Rangers and Astros played 11 scoreless innings in an extra inning thriller. The Game started out with Darvish having a perfect game intact into the 5th inning, as well as Feldman pitching scoreless innings for the Astros. But it was late game heroics from Chirinos to get the winning run and only run across in the bottom half of the 12th.

  • Chirinos 1-3, 1 RBI

4/12 – Cosart vs. Scheppers: Astros 6 – Rangers 5 – After a scoreless night until the final inning to an explosion of runs from both teams. Astros took a 5-2 lead early in the game, but in true Rangers fashion they battled back and tied the game late sending it to extra innings, but unfortunately the “Walk off” didn’t happen as the Astros scored the winning run in the top of the 10th and held the Rangers in check.

  • Andrus 2-3
  • Martin 2-3

4/13 – Olberholtzer vs. Perez: Rangers 1 – Astros 0 – The Rangers once again had a game come down to the wire and held off the Astros to keep their lead and once again get Martin Perez another victory on the year. It was an eventful game even without a lot of offense, Elvis Andrus got ejected for arguing a strike call.

  • Perez, 8 IP, 0 Runs

  1. Looks like Perez is the real deal. All the games were very competitive. Either Houston is much better than last year, or (ugh) we aren’t as good. We have a lot of guys on the injury list, so hopefully we can get back to full strength. Good job.
