Yesterday during the Rangers game in Detroit, reigning AL MVP was injured on a play at home plate. Normally this wouldn’t be a big deal, but it was on a pop out to foul territory and was probably a play he shouldn’t have been sent to home plate by 3rd base coach. Which even Josh Hamilton said himself after the game.
It came out yesterday evening that he would be out 6-8 weeks and that is if everything goes perfectly. But even being out that long, it will take him another two weeks at least to get back into game form. This is bad news for the Rangers, especially since the super hot start, and this happens so early on in the season. The Rangers will replace him with David Murphy, and can only hope for a .500 run in his absence. Anything more than that is a huge success, but anything less could be dangerous to the long term outlook of the season.
