Orangebloods.com is reporting that high ranking officials from the University of Texas are saying that Greg Davis will be relieved of his offensive coordinator duties. This is not a surprising move for most Longhorn fans. Most fans have been calling for Davis to be removed for the better part of the last 10 years. He was able to quiet a lot of the criticism when he had Colt McCoy and Vince Young leading his offense.
Greg Davis by no stretch is a horrible offensive coordinator, but his problem has always been his very conservative play calling. This season he seemed to stick to a handful of plays that ended up being more of a disaster. It is understandable to not throw everything out with a new QB, but you can’t throw away 75% of your play book every week. Greg Davis has been with Mack since their days in North Carolina. This is the time to make a change and this change is a positive change. It is time to have some fresh blood in the coaching staff. There is no word on possible replacements at this time. Should be interesting to hear who will be a candidate.
It has been brought to my attention that Recruitocosm was the one who broke the story, Orangebloods has just been running with it.
