After finishing 7-5 last year and ending the year on a five game win streak, Larry Coker will hope to have his UTSA roadrunners in position to continue winning and try to make it to their first bowl game in program history. But they will have some work cutout for them to get there.
The UTSA Roadrunners will have to start out the season with Houston, Arizona and Oklahoma St. Getting out of this stretch with one win will be a good thing, if they can steal another win in there somewhere, then they will be off to a great start. But once again the Conference slate will cause some trouble for the Roadrunners. They have road games against Florida Atlantic, Louisiana Tech, Rice and Western Kentucky. All of them are winnable, but getting out of that stretch even would be a good sign.
With the Home games on the schedule, the Roadrunners will probably have a good record at home, only game that seems lose-able is the North Texas game, but last year in Denton, the Roadrunners won on the road, so anything can happen. This team has the potential to win about eight games, maybe more if they can steal a couple from the early season.
Larry Coker is a good coach and he has the program going in the right direction, this team will be a dark horse to compete for the division in Conference USA. But once again it looks like around seven to eight wins is the ceiling and it is doubtful that will get them to their first bowl game.
