The Baylor Bears are coming off one of their most successful seasons in school history, they are the defending Big XII champions, and they played in their first BCS bowl. Needless to say expectations will be very high in 2014 from a fan base who is learning what it is like to have a winning program. But I think the bigger expectations will be from head coach Art Briles because this team looks to have reloaded and wants to prove last year was not a fluke.
The Bears will have a lot of excitement to start the season as they will be opening a new stadium on the opening weekend of the season. But you can rest assure this team will be ready to play and try to recapture the Big XII title for the 2nd year in a row. Baylor has a reasonably easy schedule with most of the challenging games being at home this year, their toughest games will be Texas, Oklahoma and West Virginia on the road.
But Baylor has not been afraid of a challenge when it comes to a road game, so I think the Bears will be able to weather the storm and come out with anywhere from eight to ten wins this year. That win total may be just enough to make through the Big XII and have a shot at winning another conference title, but I am sure the Bears would love to get into position to be one of the first teams in the new playoff, but that will be tough for any Big XII team to get into.
Another double-digit win season and Art Briles will be able to name his price at Baylor and probably will be given it with a smile.
