Dallas’ other professional franchise
There are a lot of things for a sports fan to get into in the Dallas/Ft. worth area. You have all four major sports; two major college programs and numerous minor league affiliates and various other sports teams to watch and enjoy. But within all this hoopla there is one professional team that a lot of sports fans forget about. That is FC Dallas, the areas Major League Soccer club.
Formed back in 1996 as the Dallas Burn, then rebranded as FC Dallas in 2002. They started playing their games at the old Cotton Bowl stadium, and then played a season in Southlake while their current home was being built. Nestled inFrisco,TX, just north of Dallas, the nice size FC Dallas stadium is part of a large soccer complex for adults and kids alike.
Unfortunately few people realize how quality the competition is in the MLS. Everyone seems to think they have to be a fan of an English premier league team to enjoy great soccer. But the reality is there is some great world class soccer being played in our own back yard. International superstars like David Beckham and Thierry Henry have come over and started to play in the MLS. But our local club FC Dallas has brought in international teams like Inter Milan, Mexican first division club Tigres de la Universidad Autonoma ne Nueva Leon (UNAL) and Clube Atletico Paranese of BrazilKodys Sports Korner is on Twitter and Facebook
