An Open letter to visiting Media

After spending the better part of today hearing out of town media bash Dallas/Ft Worth about the way the weather was handled and every reason under the sun why DFW will not receive another opportunity to host another Super Bowl. So, I decided to write an open letter and voice my opinion about their incessant whining.

Dear out of town media,

You have come into our fair city to attend the Super Bowl, but instead of being gracious guests, you have become the annoying guest from hell. You have done nothing but complain about the weather and the way the city has handled the weather situation. I realize that you like your Super Bowl host cities to be warm weather locations that are abundant with golf courses and gentlemen’s clubs. This is supposed to be your vacation away from the drab city that you call home. Well, look here Mr. Big shot, the weather is one force that nobody in the world can control. So, before you write an article or an editorial that bashes Dallas/Ft. Worth for the weather and lack of readiness. Think about one thing, this is one area of the country that may have one major snow/ice storm every 20 years or so. This is not a normal, everyday occurrence that some of your cities may be used to on a yearly basis. We do not have snow plows on the ready every time the temperature drops, and we also do not use salt on our roadways. While this may be common place in the north, it is not something we do here. Sand and gravel work just fine and don’t destroy our roadways and cause damage to our vehicles. I would hope you are a better and more grateful guest at other events you may attend and cover, because you are leaving a bad taste in our mouth here.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news to you, but the Super Bowl will return to Dallas/Ft. Worth and it will be in a constant rotation. I hope you enjoy covering this game and will think twice before you make any more asinine comments about things that are out of everybody’s control. Enjoy the game on Sunday, Catch the red eye Sunday night, and please don’t let the door hit you where the good lord split you. Because if you are going to bad mouth our home, then we don’t want you here, please feel free NOT to return when North Texas hosts the next Super Bowl.

Sincerely,
DFW Sports Fans

  1. EXACTLY!! WELL WRITTEN, AND CERTAINLY ON POINT! UNLIKE OTHER HOST CITIES, WE DO NOT NECESSARILY NEED A SUPER BOWL TO BOOST OUR ECONOMY! WE WILL BE JUST FINE WITHOUT THEM!

  4. Good for you Kody and well said. Jerry has a lot of connections, but controlling the weather is not one of them. Like it or hike it….it is what it is. I’m sick of their comments also. It’s like DFW had something to do with it. You nailed them right on the head.
