2011 Masters, The best ever?

This years Masters tournament has to go down as one of the best in history. Today people who watched the tournament were treated to an up and down of epic proportions. The day started with Rory McIlory with a comfortable lead that ended up being too much to handle. Then fans were treated to the resurgence of  Tiger Woods.

While it looked like that Tiger may make the move that would win it agian for him, he ended up falling short with his putter in the long run. While fans were focusing on the collapse and Tiger’s inability to make the putt to complete his charge, there were a hand full of other guys who just kept creeping up and making the putts. At one point of the day there were at least 5 guys tied and another 3 guys within two strokes of the lead.

In the end it all came down to a new comer from South Africa to quietly but excitingly find a way to win his first green jacket. His name is Charl Schwartzel, and he was making waves early, then quietly just kept plugging along until he was able to make his move down the stretch. In then end he was happily standing next to Phil Mickelson accepting his first green jacket.

Whether or not you are a fan of golf, if you watched any part of today’s final round, it was sure to hook you and keep you entertained. This is what PGA Tour golf is about. With a good class of up and coming players, expect to see more tournaments coming down to the final few holes on any given sunday.

  1. It was fun. What disappointed me was the fact there was only one American golfer in the hunt…Tiger. You couldn’t ask for more excitement, surges, ups, downs and drama. I was exhausted at the end. Didn’t know who I wanted to pull for. They all gave it their best shot. Hats off to the winner…he held it together when everyone else fell apart.
